How we document

Throughout history we have documented our progress of discovering and building settlements as a species.

In 6th Century BC, a Greek man called Anaximander created the first map of the then-known world, at the time believing it to be cylindrical with its height one third of its diameter.

One map I found particularly thought-provoking was The Peutinger Map, a guide to Rome's transportation network that is 22 feet long, yet only 1 foot wide. The map documents over 60,000 miles of roads from Western Europe to the Middle East and includes over 500 cities as well as temples, forests, rivers and way stations for weary travelers.

With how much my own life informs my work, and with recent events of wait-list issues, I decided I needed to document my gender journey too, and compare it to what it could have been like had every milestone happened as it should have. I think using the tube map system I created inspired by the London Underground is the way to go about this.
